so, as i write this, i'm realizing it's going to be posted on facebook. why? well i decided i thought the "notes" section was cool a couple weeks ago when it was the newest and coolest thing... i think that after this post, i'll remove it from the notes section. you know why? the whole mini-feed thing is absolutely INSANE and HORRIBLE. It's going to be listed on everyone i am friends with that i just updated my notes with just a click of a button...a button that reads "publish post," exposing about 600 people to an immediate chance to read my thoughts.
in facebook's response to people's complaints, they made a good point:
"...What is important to remember with all of these features is that we are not allowing anyone
to see anything that they wouldn't normally be allowed to see. For example, if you join a
secret group, any friends that are not members will not receive a News Feed story about this
action. Similarly, when they look at your Mini-Feed, they will not be able to see a story about
you joining the group. The settings that are established on the My Privacy page and the
settings that apply to Photo albums, Notes, Groups, Events, etc. dictate the stories that are
displayed in News Feed and Mini-Feed. Although there is no option to completely turn off
Mini-Feed, all users have the option to hide individual stories. If you select the 'X' button to
the right of any of your own stories, that content will no longer be visible to anyone viewing
your Mini-Feed..."
so actually i was thinking that they are right, but they missed our point. the point is, just because they CAN see it doesnt mean EVERY person i'm friends with is searching through my notes. it's all really bizzare. i'm not that happy about it, as you can tell... but yeah, what do you think??
